One of the best meals EVER happened last night. My rad cousin, Yunny, his equally rad girlie, Cheen, and my homey, Livvy, gathered at the wonderful Cookie (Swanston St, Melbourne) and indulged in some share plates, Rose and Hoegaarden. The evening was balmy, we scored one of the notoriously ‘hard-to-score’ balcony tables and enjoyed a lovely dinner of Thai food: Coconut Chicken & Jackfruit salad, duck salad, deep-fried chili pork ribs, eggplant and sweet potato green curry, coconut rice and roti. But what made the evening so, so great (apart from the food)? Great friends, lots of laughs, lovely service, good vibes, nice beats…the downside of sitting on the balcony are the drunk guys who join you to have their cigarettes as you eat. BOOOOOOOO!
Here’s a hot tip: if you can’t get a balcony, sit at the intimate back bar with a friend/brother/sister/lover, order lots of food and cocktails/spritzers/beers and sit back and enjoy the amazingly great service. The staff are super-cool, friendly and chatty and, despite what you may think, will always remember you if you’re as nice to them as they are to you.
We paid $25 ea for 3 medium and 1 large share plate, plus 2 sides (drinks on top of that). One of my all-time favourite places in Melbourne!
